SFW: New Zealand Weather in Elvish

I'm no linguist or super Tolkien authority but that sounded like a real good read for a short local news bit. I do wonder if those graphics were special for the segment or if that's just what they always use for the weather map. I do think he should have worn a dark brown or black wig. Seeing as how he's probably a native Maori New Zealander it would have blended bettter.

`Hear all ye Elves! ' she cried to those about her. `Let none say again that Dwarves are grasping and ungracious! Yet surely, Gimli son of Glóin, you desire something that I could give? Name it, I bid you! You shall not be the only guest without a gift.'
`There is nothing, Lady Galadriel,' said Gimli, bowing low and stammering. `Nothing, unless it might be – unless it is permitted to ask, nay, to name a single strand of your hair, which surpasses the gold of the earth as the stars surpass the gems of the mine. I do not ask for such a gift. But you commanded me to name my desire.'

The Elves stirred and murmured with astonishment, and Celeborn gazed at the Dwarf in wonder, but the Lady smiled. 'It is said that the skill of the Dwarves is in their hands rather than in their tongues ' she said; `yet that is not true of Gimli. For none have ever made to me a request so bold and yet so courteous. And how shall I refuse, since I commanded him to speak? But tell me, what would you do with such a gift? '

Hopefully the world won't completely end since this year will bring us the 1st part of the long delayed The Hobbit movie. To mark the start of the year which brings up closer to a complete Tolkien filmography as well as LotR Lego sets;

I bring you artist Francisco Guerrero's animated take on Galadriel & Legolas. While these are a work in progress sometimes line art and rough sketches can be just as good if not better than the end result if the coloring isn't done as well. Let's hope Francisco can knock this one out of the park, he's done good a good job of it so far.

The discord between dwarves and elves in J.R.R. Talkien's work isn't just the usual stock racial grudge that most fantasy writers use for these 2 cultures, or maybe it's the original root of it? Either way it's way more complex and intricate than just simply "we have a difference philosophy and land disputes".  

So Gimli's friendship with Legolas and enchantment by Galadriel has a lot more weight to it.

It's kinda amazing how a bunch of the highlights are drawn in crayola markers.

Isn't Hugo Weaving genuinely smiling with no malicious intent one of the creepiest things ever? The way Celeborn and that one Gondor soldier are grining sure as hell don't help bring the we're on a watch list factor down any.
The bearded one catching Legolas is Gimli and not Gandalf, by the way.

One of the things that I was sad to see left out of the movies was the fact that Elrond & Celebrian had twin sons, Elladan & Elrohir before Arwen. While they aren't all that important to the story they could have easily been added into the background during the counsel & battle scenes at the very least or give some new possibilities with how the elf scenes between Arwen, Galadriel, & Elrond played out character and dialogue wise. Samwise, Tee Hee.

Remember that little bright eyed boy that Viggo picked up in Arwen's waking dream? Here the little guy is with his loving mother being all sweet and snuggly.  Bri-Chan really outdid herself with the cute and love in this one. Arwen looks so motherly and graceful in this piece.
